CHILI PUBLIC LIBRARY

What makes the Chili Public Library such a special place?

    “Family Friendly”

“Go out of their way to serve all demographics – from toddlers to seniors”

    “Knowledgeable staff”

“FRIENDLIEST, MOST HELPFUL STAFF OF ANY LIBRARY I HAVE BEEN IN”

    “ …best I’ve ever experienced”

Some examples of nominating entries

Chili Public Library with Director Jeff Baker, is the 2010 RRLC Public Library of the Year. The judges for the National Library Week Contest – Ellen Stoll Walsh, local children’s author and storyteller, Nikki Rudd, 10NBC news reporter, and Bernard Margolis, NY State Librarian – all agreed that nominations reflected warmth of place and staff.  “It was obvious how proud the community was of the library.”

Asked the secret to the rave reviews, Jeff said: “We listen. We listen to the community. We listen to each other.”

It’s obvious when you walk in the library that cheerfulness and activities abound.  Take a photo tour of the Chili Library and watch the video of our day at Chili:

Congratulations, Jeff and staff of Chili Public Library!

The library received $100 in prize money which Jeff says they will use to thank the community during an open house during National Library Week.  The library will also be honored at the RRLC Annual Meeting, June 3, 2010 at Casa Larga.
