AskUs 24/7 is a live virtual reference cooperative. hosted by the Western New York Library Resources Council (
http://www.wnylrc.org). Three RRLC member libraries currently participate in the service: Finger Lakes Community College and Monroe Community College, who joined the service as of June 1, 2009, and St. John Fisher College which has been a member since 2007.
RRLC now has an Ask Us 24/7 Banner available to participating libraries to advertise the program on their campus. The banner is available for loan for one month at a time. Please contact Janet Altimonda at the RRLC office 585-223-7570 or by email at
jaltimonda@rrlc.org.
Any RRLC member library is eligible to join the cooperative, and RRLC will pay the library's set-up fee to assist them in getting started with the service. This is an opportunity for member libraries to provide around-the-clock chat reference service for their users, with a minimal investment of time and money.
The annual fee for participation is based on the library's materials budget, and the staffing requirement is based on the size of the library staff.
