Ambrose Swasey Library is happy to serve not only its own seminary community, but also readers from the Rochester area and beyond. All borrowers must first register at the circulation desk, and be assigned a numbered patron card. Computers, printers and related equipment for word processing, multimedia development, surfing of the Internet and other personal computing tasks are available only to CRCDS students, faculty and staff.

We assign three levels of borrowing privileges to library users:
Level 1: Students, faculty and staff at CRDS/BH/SBI and faculty and staff of University of Rochester. Patrons are asked to use discretion in the number of items checked out in any given subject area, but have no fixed limit. There is a limit of 15 items checked out per day.
Level 2: Alumni/ae, trustees, area pastors or those engaged in ministry, and students from the University of Rochester. Patrons have a limit of six items checked out at any one time.
Level 3: All other library users. No fee. Limited to ASL on site circulating collection.
Loan periods: books/cassettes – 28 days; journals – do not circulate; videos – 7 days;
Ambrose Swasey no longer charges overdue fines. There is a charge for recalled and missing items.

There is no restriction on on-site use. Anyone may use all library resources on-site.

Library cards are issued to residents of our five service counties: Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, Yates, and Monroe. Certain privileges are not extended to the public as a whole. An example is off-campus access to electronic resources or remote database access. Library laptops for wireless access to the Internet are available to FLCC students and staff.

The Warren Hunting Smith Library is maintained by the Hobart and William Smith Colleges for use by members of the Colleges’ community. The Library has developed circulation policies that reflect the Colleges’ fundamental commitments to respect for intellectual freedom and open and unfettered inquiry. Borrowing privileges are extended to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and Geneva residents. Members of the general public with legitimate scholarly need have in-building access to the Library's collections. The Library will, on occasion and based upon need, extend borrowing privileges to scholars outside the HWS community.

Nazareth College students, faculty, and staff, Nazareth College alumni, St. John Fisher College undergraduate students (must have a current St. John Fisher College student ID), Empire State College students (must have a current Empire State College student ID), and RRLC ACCESS cardholders (ask at your home institution's library for requirements and registration). Additionally, a fee-based community user borrowing card is available which is limited to adults who are not students of any other educational institution, at any level.

With the exception of interlibrary loan, most B. Thomas Golisano Library resources and services are available on-site to visitors. Coin-operated photocopy equipment is available, and limited free use of the printers at the public access workstations is permitted. Use of the computer lab stations is limited to RWC and NES students, staff, and faculty. |
Alumni of the College and Northeastern Seminary may obtain cards for borrowing privileges without charge. The library is an Access Program participant. Other community residents age 15 and above may obtain borrowing cards for an annual fee of $25. Due to licensing restrictions, off-site access to the library's electronic subscription databases is limited to current faculty, staff, and students.

Anybody who comes to the library can use all services, except ILL, and materials. Logging on to most of our computers requires authentication. Printing is available for Courtesy Card holders at the rate of 10 cents per page; the minimum amount that can be purchased is $5.00, which can be used over the course of the academic year. Users of temporary (single-use) ID’s cannot print. |
In order to borrow materials, community users are issued a Courtesy Card for which they are charged $25 per year.

Faculty and graduate students from local colleges who are not in the biomedical sciences may also purchase a borrower's card, which would also entitle them to use our resources on-site. |

Members of the Memorial Art Gallery, University of Rochester students, faculty and staff, and area teachers (K-12) may borrow materials. Circulation privileges are also available at certain membership levels of the Friends of the Libraries. Borrowing privileges are also granted to individuals with RRLC Access cards or scholars from ARL institutions with reciprocal agreements with the University of Rochester. These privileges are not extended to undergraduates from other colleges or universities. Friends of the Libraries, RRLC Access cards or ARL borrowing privileges must be obtained via the River Campus Libraries Circulation Desk. The River Campus Libraries appreciate the pursuit of scholarly interests at the University of Rochester. Use of the River Campus libraries is offered to the public but should be considered as a privilege to be exercised after one has made thorough use of the public library or one's own institutional library.
Visitors may consult books, journals, government documents, special collections, and other materials while visiting the libraries.
Many library resources are now available in electronic formats. These databases are licensed for the use of University students, faculty, and staff. Use of selected resources by visitors is permitted but they are asked to respect the need to give University researchers the highest priority of access through public-use computers.

Circulation privileges are available to people who join the Friends of the Libraries at the $100 or greater levels. Borrowing privileges are also granted to alumni, individuals with RRLC Access cards, and scholars from institutions with reciprocal agreements with the University of Rochester. Anyone beyond high-school age, with a serious interest in music of any kind, is welcome to visit the Sibley Music Library and use our resources here. Visitors must produce a photo ID and sign in at the Circulation Desk immediately after entering the library. Use should be considered a privilege to be exercised after one has made thorough use of the public library or one's own institutional library.
Many library resources are now available in electronic formats. These databases are licensed for the use of University students, faculty, and staff. Use of selected resources is permitted, but visitors are expected to respect the need of the Library to give University affiliates the highest priority of access through the public-use computers.

Anyone bearing a RRLC Access Card may borrow materials on site without further authentication. We also allow borrowing by members of the professional music community (music teachers, performers, critics, etc.) after a satisfactory interview with our Circulation Supervisor, and upon obtaining a Sibley Music Library Courtesy Borrower's Card (picture ID), currently available only from the UR ID office at either the River Campus or the Medical Center.
