Annual Report 2007/2008

A message from Kathleen M. Miller, RRLC Executive Director

This Annual Report is the 42nd of the Rochester Regional Library Council -- nearly a half century of “Advancing Libraries Through Collaboration”. That statement, developed this year as part of an Ad Council “Brand Development Workshop” with RRLC Board and staff, aptly summarizes what we do and have done for these 42 years. The programs and services we offer have changed over the years, but that goal of advancing libraries and the method – collaboration – has not.

Nor has the support and active participation of our member libraries changed. RRLC received very high marks on a 2008 survey about programs and services. Results from the more than 600 respondents showed:

• 93% are familiar with RRLC
• 83% feel RRLC CE programs are worth their time
• 84% value RRLC as part of the community
• 89% said RRLC was a highly professional organization

Most importantly, though, you have shown your support by volunteering your time to RRLC. During 2007-2008, volunteers provided approximately 1,715 hours of service through serving on the Board and various committees. That active support and participation from so many of you continues to allow us to work together so that all libraries can provide more and better services for all the people in our community.
